Global Warming - Rubbing A Denier's Face In It

A few days ago, a denier, who I will not name, wrote an article doing what he does best - denying global warming. I actually responded to the article on Facebook with a very brief and terse statement - "bullshit from word one". My comment was perfunctorily deleted.

The same paper where the original denying article was published has printed a reader's response. Not bad, oh reader, you put his face in it but good.

Midland Daily News: Friday reader's view: Global warming: The science is clear
He cannot rationally explain why every credible scientific agency on the planet says he’s wrong, so he relies on vague conspiracy theories. He cannot provide a single scientific reference to support his politically driven ideology so he relies on proven denier sources like climatedepot. Similarly, he can’t explain why every relevant professional society and every relevant university department in the world disagrees with his views. Thus he relies on distortion, denial, deception, falsehood and fabrication.

Its a known psychological principle now. The more facts you provide them the more invested they will become in their denial. They have to move through the stages of grieving here. No amount of proof will change that. Subconsciously, they know, but its just too hard to come to grips with. I understand, I feel the same way even though I know exactly what were probably in for. Dealing with our own eventual deaths fits in this category of denial.

It puts a big ding in their long crafted righteous GOP psychological armor. Flick a few fabrications away and the entire house of cards might collapse. Then what's left? An empty shell of a GOP personality with no mommy Palin or Aunty Ann Coulter for comforting.
